Lay Him Down invites the mystery and purpose of God’s plan. It reflects the pureness of the night of Jesus’s birth, and the inward beauty of a humble, God-fearing woman who delivered Him. We were not there that night, but I can only imagine the joy Mary felt in her heart when she delivered Jesus. I can hear the animals calming the cries Jesus might have had. Can you? I can see Mary lean her kiss to the face of this little one, to God himself! Can you? I can hear the angels rejoicing in the skies. Can you?
